Every day of the 11-day at Playground Surf Resort, each of the group had a chance to surf a wave for its level, even at the peak of the swell that made smaller spots break epic and me and Flavio took some of the best tubes of the trip and maybe of our lives during the morning session. In the afternoon Doni, Playground’s surf guide, as always sending the people to the water in the right place, at the right time while Jack O’Grady and Tarcisio Marra where doing their magic behind the lens.

Each wave was clear the improving on everyone’s surfing, both on surfing technique and with the sea experience and with life. At night, at the time of slideshow, we did the surfing analysis to correct posture, wave readings and maneuvers.

For those of you thinking a trip to Mentawai is just surfing, I can guarantee one of the most beautiful sunset I've seen in my life.

I am eternally grateful to Playground Surf Resort, very well represented by Gustavo “Pseudo”, Oscar, Gui and Lélo for the opportunity.

Mentawai is well known for its epic surf spots - those who visit Mentawai Islands are greeting with an isolated chain of 70 islands off the coast of West Sumatra, northern Indonesia. Famed for some of the most densely packed and consistent world-class waves on the planet, this ocean playground is on every surfer’s bucket list.

It’s not uncommon here, in these tropical waters, to spend most of your day catching perfect waves.

The island chain has more than 50 amazing surf breaks, some considered the best in the world.

The region of Playgrounds it’s where you can wake up to 20 different breaks all within 20 minutes of each other.

Ben Allen, one of the guests at Playground Surf Resort described his experience :

“ Every morning I was woken by the gentle sound of ocean wash as the sun rose over crystal clear water metres from my doorstep. Now I must decide which activity to do first: a morning walk on the white sand that surrounds the island, stand-up paddleboard in front of the resort, a yoga morning stretch, snorkeling, spearfish or venture out to surf. It is paradise in every sense of the word. Catching the best waves is the ultimate goal, but relaxing and immersing yourself in the island life is just as important.”
